JP Morgan Appoints Former Central Bank Official as New Country Manager

JP Morgan has appointed Sailepu Montet, a former senior official at the Central Bank of Kenya, as its country manager for Kenya. This strategic move comes as the global banking giant prepares to establish its newly licensed office in Nairobi, as it expands its operations into the region.

Montet, who previously held key roles such as Deputy Director of Financial Markets and Head of Reserves Management at the Central Bank of Kenya, brings extensive experience in local and international financial markets. His career also includes leadership positions at Barclays Plc and Absa Group Ltd.

JP Morgan’s expansion into Kenya follows a lengthy 12-year pursuit for regulatory approval. The bank plans to focus on lending and supporting government projects and multinational companies eager to invest in East Africa, marking a significant investment in the country’s economy.
