Boeing workers have turned down the company’s latest offer of a 35% pay raise over four years. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) announced that 64% of its members opposed the deal, extending a strike that began on September 13.
The walkout now involves over 30,000 Boeing employees, significantly impacting the company’s operations and halting production of key models, including the 737 MAX, 777, and 767 planes. Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg warned that the company is at a “crossroads” amid escalating financial losses, which have reached nearly $6 billion.
Earlier this year Boeing faced a lot of criticism on quality after a panel blew off mid-air.
