Huawei Cloud Experiences Rapid Growth in South Africa, Plans Further Expansion

Huawei Cloud has seen substantial growth in South Africa over the past five years, driven by increasing demand for faster computing solutions from local companies and government agencies. Jacqueline Shi, president of Huawei Cloud Global Marketing and Sales, announced plans to introduce more cloud solutions to further boost revenue and expand Huawei’s market share in the region.

Huawei was the first international provider to launch a local hyper-scale cloud data centre in South Africa in 2019 and has supported over 1,000 clients across different sectors, including government, financial services, education, and telecommunications. At a recent cloud summit in Johannesburg, Shi highlighted the robust customer base that has helped Huawei’s cloud business grow over 16 times in five years, underscoring the company’s foothold in the South African market.

Despite the growth, Shi noted that total revenue from the region remains modest, motivating Huawei to scale its offerings to serve a larger market share.
