The Sudanese paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed at least 124 people in an attack by in a village south of Khartoum on Friday. Activists and medical professionals have reported the incident, which could be one of the deadliest in the country’s ongoing civil war.
The RSF has been in a violent struggle with the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) for control of Sudan since April last year, with both groups accused of widespread civilian casualties.
Activists are raising alarms over escalating violence and civilian deaths after Friday’s attack. They are also warning that the true death toll could be even higher due to communication challenges that complicate documentation.
